Joanna Wright lives and works in the village of Ullapool on the west coast of Scotland. Much of her work focuses on domestic tabletop objects - potplants, dishes, cups - and she enjoys juxtaposing still life with pattern, sometimes working with additional panels to build up an image. Her paintings often hold a sense of space and stillness, with attention paid to light and the shapes of shadows within a composition.
